May 2016:

The new cloud-based Microsoft Dynamics AX is up and running as a Service model (Saas). It includes BI software functions, and can run on any windows-based device. Cost is based on the number of monthly users of the product.An on-premise Micrsoft AX will evnetually be offered as well.

Early 2016:n

Microsoft is getting ready to release its newest version of Dynamics AX ERP. It will be a completely Cloud-hosted service solution, run under Microsot Azure, and will also include a new “guided” user experience that works like Microsoft Office and is integrated with Dynamics CRM, Office 365, Skype, Azure machine learning and Power BI. It will also have a feature called “workspaces” which will allocate different roles and views to different users.

The on-premises version of the new Dynamics AX release won’t be available until near the end of 2016, and will make use of new capabilities in Windows Server 2016 and SQL Server 2016.
